For more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with elementary children as an educator, and each year I’ve become more convinced of one thing: girls are extraordinary—and they don’t always see it in themselves. As both a teacher and a girl mom, I’ve watched firsthand how the preteen years can bring excitement, curiosity, and growth, but also uncertainty as girls navigate changing bodies, friendships, emotions, and self-image. I believe every girl deserves honest, age-appropriate information, trusted guidance, and a supportive community where she feels safe asking questions, finding her voice, and embracing the incredible person she is becoming.
That’s the heart behind Girls Club of Central St. Louis. Here, girls will build confidence, better understand their changing bodies, ask honest questions without fear or embarrassment, and form meaningful friendships with other girls their age. My hope is that every girl leaves our time together feeling informed, encouraged, and empowered—with the confidence to embrace who she is today and all she’s becoming tomorrow.
